When I was pregnant with my first I made a promise to myself that I would start using safer products on my body. Your skin is your biggest organ and what you put on it seeps right into your skin and into your bloodstream. Knowing that I had precious life that was growing inside of me was more than enough motivation to switch to safer, cleaner products. I also started making my own homemade products so that I had full control over what ingredients were in the products I used.

Ingredients You Need
This homemade 3 ingredient body and face scrub is super simple to make, cost effective, and leaves your skin feeling super clean, exfoliated and soft. The best part about it? All of the ingredients can be ordered off of Amazon!
What you’ll need to get started:
- Coconut oil
- I use coconut oil to moisturize the skin. If you’ve ever used an exfoliated before you know it can leave your skin feeling super dry.
(I get a giant tub of organic coconut oil from Costco. I found this brand on Amazon and it’s eligible for Prime shipping. You can get yours here)
- Raw sugar
- I use sugar as the exfoliant because it’s natural and effective. Most body scrubs have little beads in them are actually made from plastic and all of those little beads end up going down our drains and into our water sources.
(This is the brand that I use and get from Whole Foods. You can also order it off Amazon by clicking here).
- 100% pure tea tree oil
- I use tea tree oil for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean.
- Tip: I also use a drop of tea tree oil on a q-tip and apply to a pimple to help reduce the redness and size. This has worked better for me than any harmful drug store “zit zapper” topical cream.
(I picked mine up from a local health food store, but they also sell it on Amazon. You can get yours here).
This homemade scrub lasts a long time, especially if you’re anything like me and don’t shower every day because #momlife.
How To Make It
1. Scoop out 1 cup of coconut oil into a mixing bowl
2. Add 1/2 cup of raw sugar to the coconut oil (you can add more or less depending on how much you want or need to exfoliate)
3. Add 20 drops of tea tree oil
4. Mix well
5. Store in a glass container to keep in your shower or on your bathroom sink
Voila! That’s how you make your very own safe, homemade body and face scrub!
Enjoy!
